Artist Statement

The term "traverses" refers to moving across or through a space. This exhibition features landscape videos, body cast sculptures, photographic prints, and sculptural paintings that depict the artist's personal journey through challenges such as the pandemic, divorce, and childhood trauma. Koym-Murteira’s work celebrates queer and maternal bodies by blending traditional techniques like mask-making with contemporary 360-degree videography.

These artworks serve as a dynamic expression of identity, bridging spirituality and creativity. They explore themes of body autonomy, connection to nature, and reclaiming one's self. The artist invites viewers to reflect on resilience and vulnerability, highlighting how art can foster social change and personal transformation.
