Made from my body
Change begins in an imagined reality. I release myself from entrenched roots of the "good girl" paradigm that limits my value to being helpful and quiet. I explore my personal narratives with pieces like Mama Belly, reflecting on my body transformed from the inside out. Made to Pray portrays a girl in prayer, intertwined with a large cat, reflecting my painful clash with religion and sexuality. Fists in the Air features a woman proclaiming her presence. The bodycast replicas, ranging in scale from intimate to immense, lay emotions bare. After casting, I transform the forms into paintings and sculptures using wool, gesso, and oil paint.
